JADEN AND LILIE
I will apologize for the lack of the other person's response, I really like this format of setting up the scenes but do not have the aim log with her part of the thread anymore.
Jaden had already changed into her pajamas and crawled into bed after her bath. She had meant to just lie in bed and rest until Lillie finished her bath as she normally did, tonight however she had fallen asleep while she was waiting. She opened her eyes, slowly pulling herself up into a sitting position when she heard Lillie say her name. "What's going on?" she mumbled as she pulled her blanket off of her.
The moment Lillie mentioned leaving she became alive and hopped out of her bed. She instantly became filled with emotions. She was a bit afraid to be running away, though that wasn't bothering her much. She would be with Lillie and she knew that Lillie would take care of them no matter what happened. Most of all she was excited. There was finally a chance that she would be able to find her mother. Something she had been looking forward to her whole life.
She had only known her mother for a very short time. She had very few memories of her mother as she was very young when she knew her mother. Her mother had gotten pregnant at age eighteen. She tried to raise Jaden alone as she didn't get along with her parents, but they were very tight with money and dreamt of going to college. Her mother decided it would be best for Jaden to be sent away to live with her aunt at age three where she could live a better life. Jaden loved her aunt and was devistated when she died in a car accident. As crushing as it was to lose someone so close to her, she hoped she would now be able to live with her mother again if her mother had a more stable life. The goverment tried to locate her mother but failed. Jade never believed that they tried hard enough to find her mother and was determined that some day she would find her mother herself. Until that time she needed somewhere to go since she wasn't old enough to be on her own. She was sent to the foster home where she met Lillie and the two began to bond. They were now going to leave and she would finally be going back to California where she would search for her mother even if it took the rest of her life.
Jaden hurried to the closet, grabbing her bag she kept packed with her most valuable and important items as well as two extra pairs of clothes. She pulled her small blanket off of her bed and shoved it into the bag with her other things. She had enough to live off of, but not too much. She made sure it wasn't too much to carry without getting tired. She grabbed her jacket off of the chair, pulling it on incase it was a little chilly as it sometimes got at night. She quickly pulled her socks on, slipping her feet into her shoes which she kept in their bedroom for this exact reason.
She looked around the dark room as she mentally checked to make sure she wasn't forgetting anything important. She wasn't shirt why tonight was teh night but she knew she could trust Lillie to know when the time was right. "I think I'm ready," she said to the other girl with a bit of nervousness in her voice. She was nervous about what the night and the following days would hold, though she knew they would only get better. As long as she had Lillie nothing could go wrong.
Jaden looked around the room once more before following Lillie to the doorway. When she saw Lillie look around the room one last time she smiled. "And now begins our new life together..just the two of us." She looked to the other girl's face though she could just barely the outline of her features.
She slipped past Lillie, quietly pushing the door open. She peaked her head out, looking around to see if either of the Tooeys were around, but they weren't. So far so good. She quietly slipped out of the room first, since she was smaller she would make less noise as she tiptoed to the stairs. She laid down on the floor, edging over to the stairs to where she could see if anyone was downstairs. She pulled back up as Mrs. Tooey walked across from one room to another then shut the door behind her. She stayed laying on the stairs for a few more seconds to make sure they stayed where they were. No moment. She turned to Lillie who was still in the door way and motioned for her to come on that the coast was clear.
Jaden quietly got up off the floor as Lillie made her way over to the stairs. Jaden started down the stairs slowly, placing her feet near the edges where the stairs didn't creak. They had to be sure not to make any noise. Who knew what would happen if they got caught. Jaden sure didn't want to find out. She made it to the bottom of the stairs where she stayed crouched down a bit, just incase. She looked up at Lillie as she waited for Lillie to slid past her to get the extra pair of car keys they needed to get.
Jaden slid past making her way across the yard, slowly at first until she was sure Lillie was safely following. She reached the gate where she unlatched the lock. She slowly pulled the gate open a few inches, trying to keep it quiet but..oh no! It squeeked! Jaden froze for a second or two trying to figure out the Tooeys heard. She decided she didn’t care at this point. They were too close to get caught now. Even if they heard it the girls would be faster than the Tooeys. She yanked the gate open the rest of the way not caring if it made noise since it had already done so. She hoped that the Tooeys hadn’t heard or that they hadn’t realized where the noise was coming from so that it would give them long enough to escape.
Jaden immediately hurried to the car, going to the passenger side where she waited for Lillie to let them into the car. She could hear Lillie fumbling with the key trying to unlock the car as quickly as possible. As soon as Lillie opened her door and hit the unlock button for the rest of the doors, Jaden opened the door and jumped into the car.
Jaden was completely filled with excitement now though there was still a bit of nervousness settling in the bottom of her stomach. They were free. Even if the Tooeys were to come out at this moment they wouldn’t be able to stop the girls. They were going to California and nothing could stop them now. Jaden looked over at Lillie and smiled a bit, “We did it! Now let’s get outta here before they notice!”
Jaden kept her eyes behind the car as they left the Tooeys, headed towards town. She watched as the house faded out of sight, smiling to herself. Once she could no longer see the house she turned around to face forward. “I can’t believe we actually did it. After all this time we’re finally away from them, forever! This is the second best day of my life! The first being the day I met you, of course.” She told Lillie with a grin.
Jaden unzipped Lillie’s bag, pulling the maps out so they would be out and ready incase they needed them anytime soon. Jaden gave a nod when Lillie asked if Jaden had everything she needed. She picked up her bag and unzipped it. She pulled out her blanket, placing it onto her lap. She flipped through her items just to make sure for herself that everything was there though she was already positive that it was. “Yep..I have all my necessities and everything that has sentimental value to me.” She said with a smile.
Jaden pulled out one item in particular before setting her bag back on the floor. The item was a teddy bear that her mother had given her as a baby. Jaden carefully used her thumb to push the fur around the bear’s eyes back so they she could see it’s eyes. She held it out, looking at it for a few seconds as she thought, ‘I’m finally coming home, Mommy. I will get to see you again.’ She slowly pulled the bear to her chest, hugging it softly before setting it down in her lap. She thought to herself that it was probably a bit childish, but she believed that maybe the bear would help guide the girls to her mother. “How long do you think it will probably take us to reach California?” She asked, looking over to Lillie.
